The Hack has been Paquito Navarro's racket for years, and the Hack 05 is the sharpest version yet. It's a 10th-anniversary edition with a redesigned frame. The main change is bigger air channels through the head, so the racket cuts through the air more easily and gets up to speed faster. On a smash, a bandeja or a fast volley at the net, more of your swing ends up in the ball.

Who it's for

This is a racket for advanced and competitive players who like to finish points. If you want the overhead to be your weapon and already have solid technique, this is the kind of racket you've been looking for.

How it plays

• Power up top. It's diamond-shaped with a high balance, so the weight sits towards the head. That gives you more leverage on overheads, the shots where points are won.
• Firm, but not a plank. The face is medium-hard 18K Tricarbon over a MultiEva core with more than one foam density. You get an explosive response when you hit hard, and enough feel to place the ball in the slower moments between attacks.
• Spin. The 3D Grain surface is textured, and the Smart Holes pattern is designed to help the face grip the ball. That makes it easier to add kick and slice.
• Easier on the arm. Ease Vibe, Vibradrive and Hesacore all work to reduce the vibration that reaches your elbow and wrist. That matters with a stiffer, head-heavy racket.
• Tune it to you. The CustomWeight system lets you adjust the balance, so you can make it more head-heavy for extra punch or pull the weight back for quicker hands.

Is it right for you?

This racket rewards good technique. If you're still learning, or you mostly defend from the back of the court, the high balance and firm face can feel demanding.
